Nepal
In Nepal we work closely with our partner NEPAN and focus on:
- our Sponsor A Grandparent program
- helping older people bring about the changes they want change through our Age Demands Action campaign
- campaigning for Nepal's constitution to protect older people's rights
- helping older people work together so that more can benefit from pensions and health services.
The difference we made in 2009-10
- We have helped around 300 older people join forces to form 14 older people's associations.
- With our support, our partner NEPAN arranged a meeting between older people and the President of Nepal, Dr Ram Baran Yadav, as part of our Age Demands Action campaign.
What next?
- We are now pushing for more older people to receive their state pension.
- We will also work with the government to develop a national strategy on pensions, health and work for older people.
